Prospective students
Undergraduate research opportunities
To all undergraduate students: If you are bright, motivated, enthusiastic, and curious, I invite you to work with me and members of my laboratory on current projects and new ones in our field of expertise that we will develop together. I am interested in meeting students of all levels and that includes all of you freshman and sophomores, too! Research experiences are the some of the best ways to explore your interests, meet new scientists and students in the field, and gain valuable opportunities to participate in, design, and complete real science projects that make a difference.
There are numerous ways for you to become a part of my laboratory group:
- Volunteer. I am always interested in meeting smart and intellectually engaged students who want to explore the field of ecology and science from a hands-on point of view in the laboratory and the field. Come visit us and find out what we do!
- SOLS Undergraduate Research Program (SOLUR). The SOLUR program is an opportunity for you to complete an independent research project over the course of a summer or academic year under my guidance. As a part of the SOLUR program, you will be a part of a larger community of learners of other undergraduate researchers in the School of Life Sciences. SOLUR Researchers and Fellows are paid a stipend for their efforts, and all students participate in the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium. It´s a great opportunity! Check it out!
- SOLS Research Experiences for Undergraduates (REU) Summer Program. The REU program is a great way for you to develop your own independent project under my guidance within the context of our ongoing research. REUs are paid a summer stipend for personal and living expenses, and all students participate in the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium.
- SOLS Minority Access to Research Careers (Pre-MARC and MARC). Program. Like the REU and SOLUR programs, the Pre-MARC (for freshman and sophomores) and MARC programs are opportunities for you to develop your own independent project under my guidance within the context of our ongoing research. If you are a successful MARC student, you will have opportunities to gain assistance with tuition and fees, a monthly stipend for living expenses, and other benefits that will assist you in participating in our research program at your highest level. Like SOLUR and REU students, MARC and Pre-MARC students also participate in the annual Undergraduate Research Symposium.
